Walk for Water PDX

The 2012 Walk for Water in Portland, Oregon was held March 24 and we could not go this year as it was the day Cheryl was leaving for Kenya. And, we visited Jenny in Seattle before her departure from Sea-Tac Airport with her cello checked at the Oversize Luggage Counter and two violins in check in luggage. But the Walk for Water is something we like to do. For the past few years Walk for Water Day has been organized and sponsored by Portland Roasting Coffee and has raised funds for the construction of wells in Kenya during the 2010 event. We walked for water at an ancillary event held in Vancouver, Washington one year too http://www.worldwaterdaypdx.com/

Here is another interesting water project by Princeton at Nyumbani http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7EAqsWAqv8&feature=youtu.be/
Notice the mention of 50 liters (13.21 US gallons) per day per household allocated from the rain barrel collection tank. American toilets flush between 3.5 and 7 gallons of water per flush so after 2 to 4 flushes you have used your allocation for all indoor water use for the day (http://www.epa.gov/WaterSense/pubs/indoor.html)
