Here is a photo from The Three Violin-eers in their safari-van at Nakuru with driver and guide Gideon of Creek Tours safely outside. More photos of animals to be added later but check out the tour operator’s web site.
On a previous trip Cheryl visited Lake Naivasha on safari where Joy Adamson (born Friederike Victoria Gessner), the naturalist and the author of the 1960s best selling book “Born Free”, lived in the 1960s. The book was the basis for the family classic film “Born Free” released in 1966 winning two academy awards and featured the husband and wife actors Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna (and Elsa the lion). Following the success of the film Travers and McKenna established the Born Free Foundation, a UK based conservation and animal rescue organization, that celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2009 with an event at Royal Albert Hall featuring celebrities including Bryan Adams, Gabriella Cilmi, Mutya Buena and others. How music has changed since the 60s! The BFF web site http://www.bornfree.org.uk/> describes the activities of BFF (Born Free Foundation and “Best Friends Forever” program for animals).
