There are good dhows and there are bad dhows

Her Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS) Toowoomba has seen all types of dhows. HMAS Toowoomba (FFH 156) of the Royal Australian Navy went on Operation SLIPPER in 2009, a deployment for anti sea piracy mission off the coast of Somalia with the multi-national Combined Task Force 151 and reported more than 120 dhows at sea during patrol. The web site MarineBuzz.com ran a story “hmas-toowoomba-explains-dhows-of-southwest-asia” with photos : http://www.marinebuzz.com/2009/09/12/

The Frigate’s story was told in a documentary “Australian Pirate Patrol” in October, 2010 on the National Geographic Channel in Australia http://natgeotv.com.au/tv/australian-pirate-patrol/episodes.aspx?series=1
