Portland to Coast Walk Relay was a first for Wacom in 2012 after having fielded a team for the Hood To Coast Run Relay in 2011. Held on the weekend of August 24-25 the event brought 400 teams and over 4,000 walkers. Our team had 12 walkers each assigned to two segments between 4 and 8 miles per segment usually split between one easy segment and one difficult one as far as terrain and time of day or night. My first segment was Leg 19 at noon on Friday August 24 followed by Leg 31 at 4 am Saturday am. Each team also had a van driver and a navigator so we had 16 Wacom employees participate in PTC 2012. The company did an awesome job of supporting the project and our vans were decorated with the team logo and name “Why Run When You Can Wacom.” The weather was great, sunny but not too hot, our eventual time recorded for the 129 mile course was 31 hours and 24 minutes about 20 minutes longer than our estimate but we were happy with the result.
This event was great fun for our team and I want to thank our Team Leader Erin, Drivers Paul and Erin, Navigators Pam and Shannon and everyone at Wacom Technology Corp for supporting the team. I hope we do it again next year and until the 2013 event is announced see http://www.portlandtocoastwalk.com/race-information
